Craft:

There’s more to Super Bowl decorating than footballs and plastic party cups. This floral football vase from Life in Wonderland adds a feminine touch to a masculine sports theme.

One of our favorite entertaining sites, Hostess with the Mostess, shares instructions for a “playing field” table top your guests will love.

Top off your Super Bowl decor with two creative projects from Dollar Store Crafts. First, create an astroturf mini football field for the buffet table. Next, if you have sewing skills, try making a football garland.

Will kids be attending your Super Bowl party? Crafts with Kendra shows you how to let them in on the fun by creating tiny finger puppets shaped like giant foam fingers found at the football stadium.

DIY Projects:

Instead of replacing a cabinet when screw holes become stripped by wear, repair them with this technique from the DIY Network. A toothpick and EcoGlue Premium Wood Glue is all you need.

Learn how to build a rugged coffee table from reclaimed wood with step-by-step directions from the HGTV blog.

Have an old side table gathering dust in storage? Give it a makeover by tiling the top with these instructions.

Turn a Lazy Susan into a Craft Organizer

If you’ve made a resolution to get organized this year, one of the best places to start is by organizing your craft supplies. We love this project featured on Dollar Store Crafts for turning a lazy susan into a craft organizer. Brightly colored metal pails and a spinning lazy susan turn ordinary household objects into a designer display of craft supplies within arm’s reach.

What you’ll need:

  • Lazy susan
  • Small metal pails
  • Spray paint (optional)
  • E-6000

Easy steps:

  1. Start with a lazy susan. Spray paint desired color or leave wooden for a natural look.
  2. Arrange small metal buckets on top of lazy susan. Place roughly one inch apart.
  3. Using a pencil, lightly trace the circumference of the bottom of the bucket.
  4. Apply E-6000 along the edge of the bottom of the bucket and place it on the circular outline.
  5. Repeat step 4 until all the buckets are glued down. Allow glue to dry for 24 to 72 hours.
  6. Fill buckets with craft supplies and give it a spin!

Create a DIY Valentine Banner

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and it’s a great time to start easy projects for decorating the home in shades of pink and red. We love this “Sugared” Heart Banner idea from HGTV. Simple yet adorable, this is a low time commitment project with big results. Create just one strand of hearts, or make several heart banners for a beaded curtain effect to hang in a doorway.

What you’ll need:

Easy steps:

  1. Print and cut out these hearts from HGTV or create your own. Make sure to use cardstock paper for best results.
  2. Lay the hearts on a flat work surface, such as on newspaper or a plastic drop cloth.
  3. Coat the patterned side with spray adhesive.
  4. While the glue is still wet, dust each side with crystal glitter and allow to dry.
  5. Remove any excess glitter from hearts by gently tapping them.
  6. Apply Amazing EcoGlue to hearts and affix to grosgrain ribbon.
  7. Make the banner as long as you like by adding more hearts to the ribbon.

Create a Unique Laminated Lampshade

  • Drum Lampshade
  • An image to copy and laminate
  • E-6000 Adhesive
  • Clear or Masking Tape

Making Our Mark on the Craft & Hobby Association Trade Show

We’re gearing up for our booth at the 2011 Craft & Hobby Association Winter Conference, held in Los Angeles, California on January 29 and 30. What could possibly be more exciting than CHA? A visit from designer extraordinaire, author, and TV host Mark Montano! We’re so excited to have our friend, Mark, stop by the Eclectic Products booth at CHA to meet fellow crafters and friends.

At the conference, Mark will discuss his upcoming book, “Pulp Fiction: Paper-Paper-Paper.” Mark will give away signed copies of his latest book “Big Ass Book of Home Decor” to the first 75 attendees. He’ll also be available for autographs at the Eclectic booth (#1029) from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m both days.

A long-time supporter of Eclectic Products, Mark is a fan of E-6000 and GOOP in all forms. And we’re big fans of Mark, too! We’ve featured several of his projects on the Eclectic blog over the years and we’re looking forward to sharing projects from his new book. Can’t wait that long to try out a Mark Montano project?
