Cars, trucks, and motorcycles are long term investments. After a hot summer of time on the road, it’s likely that your vehicle could use a little TLC. The good news is that a few do-it-yourself auto repairs can go a long way in restoring your vehicle and can save you time and money.

You’d be amazed by how many problems can be solved with a tube of contact adhesive and sealant. Look for a product that remains flexible after drying, is waterproof and is good at permanently adhering two materials together, such as metal to glass. Amazing GOOP Automotive is just what you need to make the minor repairs that will put you back out on the road in no time. Not only will GOOP bond to nearly any material, it’s also strong enough to withstand weather conditions and bumpy roads.

Here are 10 ways you can repair your vehicle with Amazing GOOP Automotive:

Attach loose auto trim and emblems

Repair broken rear view mirrors

Fix leather and vinyl upholstery

Reattach weather stripping

Repair tears on floor mats and convertible tops

Seal leaks in hoses and tread

Insulate electrical wiring

Apply coating to battery terminals to protect against corrosion

Seal windshields and headlights

Fix cracks in dashboards and paneling

Ready to get to work? Just follow these step-by-step directions:

Please read all directions before using. Amazing GOOP should be used in a well-ventilated area.

Surface should be clean, dry, and free from dirt. For best results, roughen surface before use. Best when used between 70° F (21° C) and 85° F (29° C).

Puncture the seal at the top of the tube using the pointer cap.

Always test a small area to ensure proper application technique and dry time. Prolonged exposure to warm water may cause discoloration and possible loss of adhesion when exposed to chemicals used in hot tubs and pools, especially in outdoor locations. Amazing GOOP may be weakened by contact with certain highly plasticized materials.

Apply Amazing GOOP directly to each surface to be bonded or repaired. Allow Amazing GOOP to partially cure, 2-10 minutes, before bringing surfaces together. Amazing GOOP hardens by solvent evaporation and forms an immediate bond that is difficult to reposition after both adhesive-coated surfaces are placed in contact with each other and sufficient pressure is exerted to establish full contact.

Allow the repair to dry for 24 hours. Depending on the materials and the temperature maximum strength may not be reached for 48 to 72 hours. Cure time increases with lower temperatures and decreases with higher temperatures.

Keep threads at the neck of the tube free of Amazing GOOP residue. To ensure easy cap removal, apply a thin coat of petroleum jelly to the threads of the tube before replacing the cap.

Clean uncured adhesive with small amounts of acetone or naphtha; the adhesive will ball up and brush off. Cured material may be removed by cutting or scraping.

Store unused Amazing GOOP at room temperature with cap tightened.

NOTE: Amazing GOOP may damage finished surfaces. Avoid such contact until Amazing GOOP is completely dry.

Amazing GOOP works on everything from automotives, boats and RVs to household surfaces, plumbing, and lawn & garden.

If you’re like us, you’re always planning or thinking about your next DIY project. As we say goodbye to summer and welcome fall, consider these do-it-yourself household repair and home improvement projects that can save you time and money.

Reattach loose tile
If you have tile flooring, you may notice over time that some of the tiles getting loose. This could be because the adhesive securing it to the floor is no longer sticky and all you need to do is use a little heat to make the adhesive tacky again to reattach the tile.

Try this tip from TLC: grab a sheet of aluminum foil and an iron. Place a sheet of aluminum foil over the tile to protect it from the direct heat. Turn your iron to high and place it directly on the foil over the tile. Keep the iron on the foil and tile long enough for the adhesive to melt and reattach to the floor. If it’s a small tile, it should take about five minutes; a larger tile might take 10. Finally, place a heavy object, such as a bathroom scale, on the tile until the adhesive dries again.

HVAC: Install a Programmable Thermostat
DIY Network suggests improving your home’s comfort and efficiency with a unit that allows multiple settings. A programmable thermostat offers more control options and saves on home heating and cooling expenses. It allows you to set different temperatures for different times of the day, and even different times on different days.

Silence a Squeaky Floor
Living in an older home may mean that you have squeaky floorboards. This is generally caused by slightly shifted floorboards that rub against one another and cause the squeak. To get started, be sure to locate all the squeaking planks. Then, apply a small amount of Amazing GOOP Craft adhesive in between them, making sure to wipe excess adhesive away and let it dry overnight.

Patch a Holey Screen
You can fix small holes in your screens instead of spending hundreds on replacing them. It’s easy: just apply a small spot of E-6000 in the hole to seal it right up.

Basement Build Out
Consider this a maximum value big ticket upgrade that will not only add extra square footage, but will pay you back when it comes time to sell. Not sure where to start? Check out HGTV’s Front Door, which provides great advice and tips regardless of your budget. If you’re just looking to remodel an unfinished basement, DIY Network shares easy how-to steps on installing drywall, bamboo paneling, subfloor panels and more.
