A visit from designer extraordinaire, author, and TV host Mark Montano!

At the conference, Mark will be signing and giving away his latest book, “The Big-Ass Book of Crafts 2” at the Eclectic Products booth (#1227) from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on January 29 and 30.

A long-time fan of Eclectic products, Mark says, “About 90% of my projects use either E-6000 or Amazing GOOP.” We’re huge fans of Mark, too! We’ve featured several of his projects on the Eclectic blog over the years and we’re looking forward to sharing projects from “The Big-Ass Book of Crafts 2.”

If you’re planning to attend CHA, follow us on Twitter for updates, and don’t forget to stop by Eclectic booth #1227.

Can’t make it to the conference? You can still check out Mark’s new book here, and get started on a fun Mark Montano project by visiting his blog.

One of our favorite things about being an exhibitor is talking to attendees — swapping crafting tips, hearing your feedback about Eclectic products, and listening to your ideas for upcoming projects. If you can’t make it to CHA, we’d still love to hear from you! And we want to give you the chance to get your hands on Montano’s latest book.
You get one entry if you tweet a link to this post (and mention @amazinggoop)

“Like” us on Facebook for a second entry

Finally, leave a comment here on the blog for a third entry, simply by answering the following questions:

What new product would you most like to see from E-6000?

What would be the most important features of this new product?

–

More simple ideas for gifts that won’t make your pocket book scream. These hair accessories are easy, glam, and perfect for the holiday season. Who wouldn’t want a dash of spring in the middle of winter? How about making them in BLACK with black glitter? That would surely be a show stopper.

FOR THE HAIR BAND

1. Cut the stem from the flower

2. With a heavy duty needle and thread sew the flower from the center on to the band.

Every now and then it’s nice to choose a project that can be completed in just a few hours. That’s why we love this standing wood candelabra from Mark Montano. With just a few supplies, you can have your own candelabra in no time! And, be sure to pick up Mark’s newest book, Big Ass Book of Crafts for more great projects like this!

***

I made this for a friend when she got married and they LOVE it. It was easy to make and I enjoyed the process very much. Everything you need to make it is at your local hardware store. It’s a project ANYONE can do. I hope you enjoy it!

YOU’LL NEED:

2 decorative scroll wooden shelf brackets 8 1/2 inches long (Home Depot or Lowe’s)

4 plain wooden shelf brackets

One 5 foot long piece of 2×2 pine

EcoGlue Premium Wood Glue

Krylon Spray Paint in a color you like

Masking tape

5 glass votive holders

Household GOOP

HERE’S HOW:

Working on a large flat surface, glue the wooden scroll brackets flush with one end of the 2×2.

Glue 2 of the plain wooden flush with the other end of the 2×2.

While that is drying, glue a third plain wooden bracket on the 2×2. This will start to create the base of the candelabra.

After this dries (give it a couple of hours) flip your candelabra over with the 3rd plain bracket hanging over the edge of your work surface and glue on the 4th plain bracket to the bottom of the 2×2.

When this is dry, paint with your spray paint.

Finally, glue on the 5 glass votives with the Household GOOP or E-6000.

Another great project from our friend, Mark Montano. Here he takes an old table and transforms it into a fun piece that could be used as a decorative side table or mini kitchen table. And, we love that all the tiny mirrors will reflect light and help brighten up a dark room.

If this sounds like a project for you, pick up some E-6000 at a Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, Jo-Ann’s or Hancock Fabrics near you or buy online with code E6BGTW for buy-one-get-one free (2 oz. E-6000 Craft, limit 3). If you haven’t checked out Mark’s newest book, Big Ass Book of Crafts, head on over to his blog and enter his book giveaway.

***

Yes, we’ve all seen mosaic before, but I love this twist on what to use for it. When I was making this I kept having to run back to the craft store to pick up more mirrors so be warned! Figure out your space and about how many you’ll be needing before you head out. The other great thing about this table….You can see up your nose while you’re eating! Enjoy.

YOU’LL NEED:

Enough round mirrors to cover your table top. Michaels Arts and Craft Stores has a very nice assortment of round mirrors at a very good price.

E-6000 or Household GOOP Adhesive

Krylon 18K Premium Gold Plate Metallic paint. (I have tried many gold paints, Krylon makes the best Metallic paints hands down)

Bathroom tile grout

Sandpaper

Spackle Knife

Sponge

Bucket of Cold Water

A table that you want to cover. Mine was a 30” diameter table top and it took about 800 round mirror tiles that ranged in size from 3/8” to 1”. HINT: Check out 2nd hand stores and furniture outlets for simple, inexpensive tables that you can use for these projects.

HERE’S HOW:

STEP 1: Sand your table top surface. This will make a nice rough surface which will make your glue stick much better.

STEP 2: Glue on your tile mirrors with the GOOP Craft glue. Do it randomly making sure to leave just about 1/8” inch in between each round tile.

STEP 3: Once the tiles are dry (I like to leave things overnight) spread your grout with your spackle knife making sure to get grout in between each tile. Get in on there anyway you can!

STEP 4: Wet your sponge with cold water, ring it out and smooth the grout in between the tiles while at the same time wiping off the mirrors.

NOTE: Your mirrors will have a grout residue but don’t worry about that, you can clean them off when the grout is dry. Also, don’t worry if you don’t get grout in every spot right away, you can always go over it a second time to get the spots you missed.

STEP 5: Let grout dry.

STEP 6: Tape off the top of the table and spray paint your base. You can choose any color that you like, I used gold on this table.

Sundance is all about celebrating the independent filmmaker against the backdrop of beautiful Park City, Utah and the Rocky Mountains. So what better place to showcase eco-chic creativity with a decidedly unique twist?

Our favorite crafter & designer, Mark Montano, hosted a celebrity crafting event on January 17 and 18th amidst the buzz of Sundance. Celebs were silkscreening, embellishing and upcycling alongside Mark. Many walked away with urban corsages, one of the clever projects from Mark’s very popular Big Ass Book of Crafts.

KayCee Stroh, Aubrey O’Day and Anya Monzikova were among the celebs sporting the corsage. Really the ultimate in eco-chic – you can recycle fabrics from other crafts and use left over baubles, too.

Want one of your own?

Supplies:

2 pieces of 11″ x 3″ fabric (with edges that fray are the best)

Buttons

Rhinestones

Faux flowers & leaves

Ultrasuede

Amazing E-6000 Craft Adhesive

Different colors of thread

Sewing machine with zigzag stitch capabilities

Directions:

Place your fabric pieces on top of each other and zigzag stitch them all around, about 1/2 inch in from all four sides. One piece of fabric is the outside and the other is the inside. Kind of like a fat watchband with a button closure instead of a buckle.

Arrange your leaves and zig zag stitch them onto the cuff.

Take your faux flower apart and zig zag stitch it to the center.

Cut out hearts, stars, random shapes and zig zag stitch them around your flower.

Stitch three buttons to one side of your flower (for different wrist sizes)

Wrap the cuff around your wrist to figure out where the button holes should go and mark the placement. If your sewing machine has a button hole setting, stitch one in. If it doesn’t you can cute a slit and stitch the edges of the cut.

Using E-6000, add rhinestones to the center of the flower and the cuff.

Accessorize with your favorite jeans and t-shirt and show it off!

What if I don’t have a sewing machine? No worries! Glue is a wonderful thing. You can glue most of the elements on this project that require sewing.

Mark adds, “You can also use velcro dots instead of a button and button hole, this way you can immediately fit them to different sized wrists.”

E-6000 is waterproof. It does need some time to fully dry, so we suggest waiting 24-hours before wearing your cuff. Enjoy!
