I’m always looking for a good way to cover up a stain on a pillow. I finally found one. OK, I’m only half kidding! I just like gluing fabrics together because the bond is just amazing! I found this lace last year at a fabric store and thought that I could (like most lace) cut it apart and use the flowers separately to embellish something. Cut to a year later and I sat down to make this pillow in two of my favorite decorating colors, brown and yellow.

Any lace will do for a project like this and if you’re really adventurous, try doing it all over an old chair that needs some sprucing up. I think you might really like the results.

YOU’LL NEED:

• E-6000 or Household Goop Glue (same company, great products)!
• 1 yard ace that you like that you can cut apart
• Pillow that you want to cover
• Scissors
• Fray Check (optional depending on the lace)
• Straight pins

HERE’S HOW:

1. Cut your lace apart to separate the flowers and leaves
2. If there is a rough edge or an edge that you think my fray, use Fray Check on it.
3. Carefully remove the stuffing from your pillow (or if you’re making a pillow, do this before you start stuffing it)
4. Lay your pillow flat and start arranging how you want your lace flowers.
5. Pin your lace pieces in place
6. Start gluing them until you’re satisfied.
7. Stuff your pillow and sew the hole closed and you’re done!

Repair deck board by removing protruding nails and replace with coated or galvanized screws. Be sure to check and tighten bolts in deck supports.  To avoid slippery surfaces use Anti-Skid Epoxy. It’s friendly on bare feet, lead free, and chemical, gas and oil resistant.

June:

Clean gas grill and replace or repair any rusted or damaged parts. Try using Seal All to patch leaks or reattach loose parts.  It’s not affected by gasoline, oil, alcohol, water and most solvents, making it ideal for for these repairs.

Complete larger exterior painting jobs. Follow the shade – don’t paint in direct sun – and quit before dusk so the paint can dry before dew forms. For most exterior jobs, look for 100 percent acrylic, and buy at least the “better” quality.
